Matthijs revealed impactful insights from Advanis' ongoing COVID-19 study, focused on how the COVID-19 pandemic has affected Canadians' mental health as well as on vaccine hesitancy. He reported how mental health has been on a decline through most of the pandemic with the mental health of several segments of the population, including younger Canadians, women, FNMI, with lower-income households being impacted relatively more severely. Matthijs shared the main reasons Canadians are choosing not to get the vaccine, including concerns about the vaccines not being safe and concerns about side effects, as well as the role that distrust in government and media play in vaccine hesitancy.

Fellow presenters shared their research findings around the importance of fostering better health literacy, and how different psychographic segments of the population react to vaccine communications. If you would like to hear more, you can watch the webinar here.
